Become a DRM Member

Under Kenyan law a person may only belong to one political party at a time. If you are not currently registered with any party, simply complete the form below. If you are already a member of another party, resign first using the steps below — then register with DRM.

How do I check my current party membership status?

The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) keeps the official record of which party, if any, you belong to. You can check your status free of charge in two ways:

1. USSD (no internet needed): Dial *509# on any network and follow the prompts to check your registration.

2. ORPP IPPMS portal: Visit ippms.orpp.or.ke and look up your status using your National ID or Passport number.

How do I resign from my current party and join DRM?

Resigning is free and is handled directly through the ORPP — DRM cannot resign you from another party on your behalf. Steps:

1. Resign via USSD: Dial *509#, register with your National ID number and first name if prompted, then select Membership → Resign. You'll receive a confirmation SMS once it goes through.

2. Or resign in writing: Send a signed resignation letter (with a copy of your ID) to the party you are resigning from, and optionally copy the ORPP at info@orpp.or.ke so your removal from their register is recorded.

3. Then join DRM: Once your resignation is confirmed, fill in the registration form below to become a DRM member. It is an offence under the Political Parties Act for anyone to register you without your consent — only you can submit this form on your own behalf.
